Japanese hinging remains the time tested choice of most conservators. With Lineco’s Mulberry Hinging Paper you can follow the Japanese method to the letter by making your own archival hinge with wheat paste and Mulberry paper. If you do not want to work with the paste you can use one of Lineco’s easy to use acid-free self-adhesive tapes. Lineco’s Linen hinging tape is made of flexible yet durable linen and a neutral pH acrylic adhesive that is non-yellowing and pressure-sensitive. Unlike water-sensitive gum lined tapes, Lineco's Abaca hinging tape can hold large heavy digital prints without cupping or distorting digital paper because the paper is strong yet flexible and the adhesive is made of permanent neutral pH acrylic. Acid is not used in the production of Abaca paper which is made from a quick-growing self-sustaining plant. Lineco's Mulberry Hinging Paper may be used with wheat paste to create fully archival hinges or non-adhesive mounting methods such as paper slings, or paper photo corners.
