Williamsburg Oil Color, Turkey Umber, 37ml TubeSave Up to30%Off list
Starting At: 11.12
Brown Handmade Master Quality Oil Paints - Manufactured In The U.S.A! Getting the proper pigment is just the beginning! So much of the quality of oil paint is in the grinding. Each color is ground to enhance the beauty and luminosity specific to that particular pigment. Some colors by nature will feel slightly gritty, others extremely smooth. For instance, Cerulean Blue will have a beautiful velvet, light-absorbing surface with an extremely strong covering power; Siennas, by comparison, are often chunky or gritty to allow light to travel through the vehicle, exposing rich golden or mahogany undertow instead of just heavy, dull browns. Pigments are ground in pure alkali-refined, ph balanced linseed oil, and made in batches no larger than 5 gallons at a time. This gives total control over the paint, much like late 19th-century French color makers. All materials are hand measured, and every ounce of paint is scrutinized. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are then packaged in 37ml and 150ml non-reactive aluminum tubes. Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors are used by the world’s finest artists, whose works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Beaubourg in Paris. Assorted Colors M. Graham Oils - The only oil paint with Walnut Oil In the tradition of the masters, M. Graham artists’ oil paint is made with pure walnut oil for its brilliance, clarity, texture, and resistance to fading and yellowing. Working in small batches, we craft oil colors true to the roots of Renaissance painting: delicately free-flowing, solvent-free, and with no fillers or additives. Founded by artists, M. Graham Oils use only the finest vehicle, Walnut Oil to make some of the finest oil paints on the market! Walnut oil provides a "unique refractive index" and will not yellow over time, which allows for incredible paint brilliance. Walnut oil's unique body allows for an increased amount of pigment suspension in comparison with other oils, giving their paint higher color saturation and tinting strength, as a result. Manufactured with only the finest example of each available pigment source, their paints contain no fillers, extenders, or adulterants, which have negative effects on color and how the eye perceives it. Hand-crafted in small batches, attention is paid to adapting manufacturing processes to specific pigment "personalities" and requirements. Use of proper milling pressure for each pigment helps to achieve optimum pigment load and dispersion. Artists run the Quality Control Department at M. Graham, assuring the quality of everything they manufacture. A green company, their products and manufacturing is solvent-free. Each pure Richeson pigment is ground to its own correct degree of fineness and formulated under exacting laboratory controls. . During the manufacturing process, great care is taken to avoid overworking the pigment. The amount of time required for the milling process varies for each color – anywhere from six hours to three days. The amount of oil required for each pigment varies because each pigment absorbs at a different rate. Richeson uses only pure, artist-grade, dry pigments. The finest grade of alkali-refined linseed oil is used to make non-yellowing colors. This type of oil is well-known for its excellent color stability. “Straw" in color, the oil has a minimal effect on pigment colorization and will not darken with age. Certain colors, such as whites, flesh colors, ice blue, and brilliant yellow light, use safflower oil. With these sensitive pigments that yellow easily, safflower oil produces a much better non-yellowing color. Where appropriate, we use a blend of linseed and safflower oil, producing the best possible finished product. Click on the item number to view the contents of each set. See More -
