Blue LUXURY THAT INSPIRES! Luxury Artist Oils from the French Riviera, perfect for Plein air painting! Based on over 175 years of experience, Charvin has created high-quality oil paint at an extremely reasonable price point. Charvin Extra Fine Professional Oil Paints use a combination of the finest in traditional and modern pigments, bound with a blend of linseed and non-yellowing poppy oils, for a smooth, creamy consistency and vibrant color. Charvin Maison de Haute Couleur ("House of High Color") has been meticulously creating fine artists' oil colors, serving artists like Cezanne, Bonnard, and Ambrogiani. Using only the highest-grade pigments that are triple-milled to the finest particle size, Charvin Extra Fine Oil Colors span a naturally progressing color range from the subtlest shades to brilliant hues. The main binding ingredient in Charvin Extra Fine oils is poppy oil, which dries slower than linseed oil (but without its tendency to yellow over time), and provides a rich creaminess to the paint. Permanent and light-fast, Charvin Extra Fine Oils are designed to accurately reflect the hues of nature, making them ideal for Plein air painting. The smooth and creamy texture lends itself perfectly to Alla prima painting, yet the high pigment concentration also allows the paint to be thinned down to the most subtle and luminous glazes (as with any Poppy Oil-based paint, remember to follow the fat over-lean method of painting). White Considered one of the Finest Oil Paints In the World! Manufacturing pigments since 1664, Old Holland Classic Oil Colors are still considered today as one of the top oil paints in the world! Boasting artists like Van Gogh, Vermeer, and other Dutch Masters that used their pigments and paints, Old Holland uses only pure, cold-pressed linseed oil as a binder with the highest possible pigment loads, creating brilliantly concentrated paints that provide exceptional covering power, strength of color, and color intensity. All Old Holland Classic Oil Paints are completely lightfast except for the Madder Lakes and Cremnitz White, which are nearly lightfast. All Old Holland oils are manufactured using stone rollers only, as the colors of the paint will not change due to metal oxidations (which will alter Cadmium colors). All colors are completely free of cheap fillers and artificial dryers like other premium paints contain. Although Old Holland Oils initially may seem very expensive, the heavy concentration of pigment is actually an exceptional value, given the covering power of the paint and minimum amount needed for color mixing. One tube of their highest possible concentration of pigment equals the pigment contained in 2 to three tubes of other professional brands! Old Holland Classic Oil Colors come in 40ml and 225ml tubes. Cremnitz White, Flake White, Mixed White, Titanium White, and Zinc White can be purchased in 125ml and 225ml tubes, as well as 475ml cans. …oil, accounts for the faster drying rate of these materials, compared to either linseed or safflower oils used alone. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors, increase transparency, gloss and color saturation. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors,… Gamblin Solvent-Free Painting Mediums Solvent-Free Gel and Solvent-Free Fluid are painting mediums made from safflower oil and alkyd resin with no solvent. Why safflower? We chose safflower for these mediums because of its paler color. The alkyd resin, which is essentially a highly polymerized oil, accounts for the faster drying rate of these materials, compared to either linseed or safflower oils used alone. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors, increase transparency, gloss and color saturation. Both Solvent-Free Fluid and Gel increase the flow of oil colors, increase transparency, gloss and color saturation Solvent-free-Mediums:* Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds the shape of your brushmark. Solvent-Free Gel has a moderately fast drying rate and increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates.Solvent-Free Gel is available in the following size: 37 ml, 150 ml * Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid painting medium gives oil colors more flow and transparency. It has a moderately fast drying rate and increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. To ensure proper drying and prevent beading-up of paint layers, Solvent-Free Fluid should be used in moderation with oil colors – no more than 25% by volume. To avoid wrinkling, apply mixtures of Solvent-Free Fluid and oil colors thinly. For underpainting, we recommend adding Gamsol to Solvent-Free Fluid. Solvent-Free Fluid is available in the following sizes: 4.2oz, 8.5 oz & 16.9 oz. * Gamblin Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. When used as a painting medium, Safflower Oil to colors increases flow and slows dry times. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. To paint solvent-free, we recommend Gamblin Safflower Oil for cleaning brushes while you are working. Solvent-Free Safflower Oil is available in the following sizes: 8.5 oz & 16.9 oz. The biggest difference between the Solvent-Free Fluid and the Gel is their consistency. The Fluid medium more significantly increases the flow of oil colors off of the brush. In terms of its working properties, it is similar to either straight linseed or safflower, though faster-drying. Brush-marks will be slightly leveled, or “rounded” when using the Fluid. Drying Time: In regards to their drying, these mediums have a “moderately fast” drying rate – meaning that thin layers will dry to the touch in approximately 36 – 48 hours. Because they rely solely on oxidation to dry, they have a longer working time compared to our Galkyd mediums, which begin to tack up as their Gamsol content evaporates from paint layers. See More -
