Pro-Lite Bars measure 1-3/4" in width and are a genuine 3/4" deep, while most brand leaders are only 1-5/8" wide and 5/8" deep. This difference creates a sturdier frame. Although some stretcher bars do not use consistent types of wood, (some are Pine, some are Poplar and some could be Bass), Pro-Lite bars are always made of Pine, so you know you are getting consistent quality and beauty.
The beaded edge on Pro-Lite is the same as the original design of stretcher bars. The brand leader's beaded edge is much less pronounced. For restretching a painting, the bead is on both sides, therefore you can turn the frame around and staple into fresh wood on the back if you ever need to restretch.
